Story Adapted From Pattern Magazine – Volume 2

Pattern Magazine is Bonnie Christine's quarterly print and digital publication for surface pattern designers, artists, and creative entrepreneurs who believe that how you live shapes what you make. This reading list first appeared in Volume 2, Rooted Rhythms, the autumn 2025 issue.

My recipe for a perfect afternoon includes cozying up in bed with a delightful book...or two! Here’s a glimpse at some of my favorite reads, inviting you to deepen your creative roots.

Rhythms of Renewal by Rebekah Lyons

This faith-based book teaches us how to create rhythms in our life for wellness, clarity and mental health.

A few years ago, I began experiencing anxiety for the first time in my life. It was scary, to say the least. This book (along with a lot of deep personal work) has been such an encouragement. It helped renew me, and I’m excited to share it with you.

The Artist’s Side Hustle by Stacie Bloomfield

My friend and fellow artist Stacie Bloomfield has done something special with this book. It’s approachable, encouraging, and filled with practical wisdom for anyone who’s ever wondered how to turn their art into income.

I love how she breaks down the big idea of building a business into bite-sized, doable steps—starting with just five hours a week.

Whether you’re dreaming of your first sale or building something bigger, this book meets you right where you are.

The Road Back to You by Ian Cron

This is the best book I’ve personally read on the Enneagram. Doing a deep dive into the Enneagram has been very helpful for both my personal and relational growth.

After learning about the different personality types, my marriage is stronger, friendships are sweeter, and I understand my mom and sister in a deep and beautiful way. I also see and understand my own behaviors more clearly. When we know better, we can do better, right? I highly recommend it!
